EDITORIAL / PRACTICAL READING
Keep the story attached to its source
A readable provenance trail explains where information came from and how it was presented.

Preserve the original context
A quotation or screenshot can lose important context when separated from its source. Record where it came from and what the surrounding material says. Keep dates and qualifications with the claim instead of moving only the most persuasive fragment.
Distinguish original material from explanation
A project photograph, a concept illustration and an editorial summary serve different purposes. Label each honestly. An attractive explanation can help readers understand a record, but it should not be mistaken for the record itself.
Keep private information private
A public account seldom needs every detail of an internal record. Protect customer addresses, personal identifiers and unrelated documents while retaining a private reference for corrections. Publish the information needed to understand the claim, within the permission you have to share it.
Show where a correction belongs
When a fact changes, the related summary and visual card may need updating too. A clear trail helps connect those pieces. Provenance makes a claim easier to examine; it does not make an unsupported claim true or guarantee that every source remains current.
